Chris Moncada, an elementary school parent and dedicated school volunteer, today announced his candidacy for Tewksbury School Committee.
Moncada, the secretary of the Center Elementary School Parent Advisory Council and a member of VFW Auxiliary 8164, is running to enhance student achievement, encourage more family and community involvement in the schools and promote transparency and accountability.
“My wife Sara and I chose to raise our family in Tewksbury because it’s an affordable community with great schools,” Moncada said. “On the School Committee, I’ll work to build upon the district’s growth and progress while always putting students, families and teachers first.”
About Chris Moncada
Moncada was born and raised in the northwest suburbs of Chicago and received his B.A. in communications from DePaul University. After working as a publicist in the Chicago area, he moved to Boston to pursue a career in guitar making.
Within days of settling in Lowell, Moncada met lifelong Tewksbury resident Sara Williams. They married in 2009 and moved to Tewksbury in 2013, where they live with their two daughters. For the past six years, Moncada has been an active volunteer at the Heath Brook, Trahan and Ryan Elementary schools, and he has been on the board of the Center PAC since its creation in 2022.
Moncada currently works for A.I.M. Mutual Insurance as a senior claim specialist, handling workers’ compensation claims across Massachusetts and Connecticut. In this role, he helps injured workers while also representing the fiscal responsibilities of policyholders. On the School Committee, he will rely on his experience as a negotiator to tackle complex issues and work out deals that benefit all stakeholders.
Chris Moncada’s Platform
Student Achievement
Moncada will focus on sustaining and expanding the School Committee’s efforts to deliver positive outcomes for all students, both in and out of the classroom: academics, the arts, athletics, social skills, life skills and more.
Family and Community Involvement
Moncada will rely on his years of experience as a volunteer and PAC member to encourage more family and community involvement in the schools, creating more opportunities for all town residents to have positive schools-related experiences.
Transparency and Accountability
Moncada will always listen to feedback, advocate for students and ensure strong, honest communication between the School Committee, the district and families.
Moncada has withdrawn his previously announced candidacy for Select Board.
“Through my years of involvement with the Tewksbury schools, I’ve seen firsthand what a special role they play in our community,” he said. “After speaking with dozens of voters over the past month, I’ve decided that I will be better able to serve the town on the School Committee.”
